Looking for one of the coolest free summer events in Seoul? This July and August, Gwanghwamun Square will once again transform into Seoul Summer Beach, a unique urban festival where visitors can enjoy swimming pools, giant water slides, a sandy beach, shaded relaxation areas, and family-friendly activities, all in the middle of South Korea's capital.


Instead of traveling to the coast, you can cool off just steps away from Gyeongbokgung Palace, making it one of the most unique summer attractions in Korea.


What is Seoul Summer Beach?


Seoul Summer Beach is an annual summer festival organized by the Seoul Metropolitan Government, transforming the historic Gwanghwamun Square into a giant outdoor water playground and beach-themed relaxation space.


Visitors can enjoy:

This year, to commemorate the 80th anniversary of liberation, it is being operated under the theme ‘Dive into Liberation.’

Giant Water Play Zone

The highlight of the festival is the large water playground featuring:

  • Swimming pools

  • Inflatable water slides

  • Splash areas

  • Safe children's play zones

During previous editions, the pools accommodated hundreds of visitors each session while lifeguards and staff ensured a safe environment.

Urban Sand Beach

One of the festival's most unique features is the artificial beach built directly inside Gwanghwamun Square.
