How to Obtain a Corporate Registration Certificate and Seal Certificate After Incorporation in South Korea

Once your corporation is officially registered in South Korea, the next essential steps are obtaining:


  1. Corporate Registration Certificate (법인등기사항증명서)

  2. Corporate Seal Certificate (법인인감증명서)


These documents are crucial for contracts, opening bank accounts, issuing invoices, and legal representation. You may need them once at 3 months for bank purposes.


This guide covers both online and offline methods, including how to use a 무인민원발급기 (self-service kiosk).

1. Corporate Registration Certificate (법인등기사항증명서)

What is it?

This is the official document proving your corporation’s legal status. It includes your company name, registration number, business purpose, address, CEO, and date of incorporation.


How to Get It — Online Method

  1. Go to: https://www.iros.go.kr

  2. Login using:

    • 공동인증서 (Digital Certificate)

    • OR 간편 인증 (Simple Authentication like Kakao/Naver — may not work for corporate users)

  3. Navigate to:증명서 발급 > 법인등기사항증명서

  4. Search your corporation by:

    • Company name

    • Corporate registration number

  5. Choose certificate type:

    • 일반 (General)

    • 변경이력 포함 (With Change History)

  6. Pay online (~1,000 KRW per copy)

  7. Download the PDF (legal and valid)


How to Get It — Offline via Registry Office

  1. Visit any 지방법원 등기과 (District Court Registry Office)

  2. Provide your corporation name or number

  3. Request the certificate at the counter

  4. Pay the fee (1,000 KRW per copy)

  5. Receive a physical stamped copy


How to Get It — 무인민원발급기 (Kiosk Method)

Where to Find:

  • Government buildings, district offices, subway stations, post offices, and some banks

What You Need:

  • Corporate registration number or name

  • The business representative’s personal authentication (공동인증서 or ID)

Steps:

  1. Select “등기사항증명서” (Registration Certificate)

  2. Choose 법인등기부 (Corporate Registry)

  3. Enter:

    • Corporation name or number

  4. Choose number of copies and type

  5. Pay by card (1,000 KRW per copy)

  6. Print and take your document immediately

⚠ Some kiosks may not support corporate certificate issuance if the corporation’s digital certificate isn’t registered. Prefer public buildings for this function.

2. Corporate Seal Certificate (법인 인감증명서)

What is it?

This certifies the validity of your corporation’s official seal (도장) and is used for:

  • Loan contracts

  • Office leases

  • Business partnerships

  • Legal representations

  • Bank


How to Get It — After You’ve Registered the Seal

Step 1: Seal Must Already Be RegisteredYou must have registered a 법인 인감도장 (corporate seal) at the time of incorporation or by visiting the Registry Office post-registration.

You’ll receive a Seal Registration Card (인감카드).


Offline Method (Recommended)

  1. Visit Registry Office (등기소) with:

    • Corporate Seal Registration Card (인감카드)

    • Representative’s personal ID

  2. Request an 인감증명서 (Seal Certificate)

  3. Pay ~1,000 KRW

  4. Receive physical copy


무인민원발급기 (Kiosk) — Limited Use

Most kiosks do not support corporate seal certificates unless the corporation’s digital certificate is linked. Even then, authentication may be complex. It’s generally not recommended unless you’ve verified kiosk compatibility through your local government website.
