Why the Jade Garden is the perfect escape for travelers

Jade Garden unfolds like a hidden gem tucked away amidst the bustling cityscape, offering visitors an enchanting escape into a world of serenity and natural beauty. Each walking trail beckons visitors to embark on a journey of discovery, taking approximately 40 to 60 minutes to traverse one way, with the paths converging at a midpoint that offers a moment of pause and reflection. Starting from the welcoming embrace of the Visitor Center, every trail leads upward,

culminating either at the enchanting White Garden or the panoramic Sky Garden perched atop the arboretum. Along the way, visitors can take a restful break at cozy cafes, enjoy a meal at the charming restaurant, or browse unique souvenirs at the shop. As the seasons shift, the arboretum’s doors remain open into the night, allowing for magical twilight strolls. Convenient shuttle buses also glide between Gulbongsan Station on the Gyeongchun Line and the arboretum, ensuring that every journey is as seamless as it is unforgettable.

The garden features 24 uniquely themed areas, showcasing a diverse collection of 3,000 plant species such as rhododendrons, maple trees, irises, and blueberry bushes, alongside lush, natural forested sections. Utilizing its natural valley landscape, the arboretum offers visitors a blend of well-maintained gardens, elegant floral displays, and a variety of European-inspired architectural elements.

Located at Haetgol-gil in Chuncheon-si, Gangwon-do, near the Jade Palace Golf Club, the Jade Garden offers a peaceful escape from 09:00 to 19:30 daily. Adults can enjoy the serenity for KRW 11,000, while junior and high school students pay KRW 6,500, and children pay KRW 5,500. Group visitors are also welcome, with rates of KRW 7,000 for adults, KRW 5,000 for students, and KRW 4,000 for children, making it an ideal spot for a memorable day immersed in natural beauty and European charm.
For those wishing to deepen their experience, guided tours and traditional tea ceremonies are offered at an additional fee, allowing guests to savor authentic cultural rituals amidst the garden’s tranquil ambiance.

Getting to Jade Garden is a journey in itself. It is a fairly short ride from the city center, easily accessible via public transportation—tourists only have to hop on the number 12 bus and alight at the “Jade Park” stop. If you travel starting from Sangbong Station, take the Seoul Subway Line 7 or Jungang Line, then transfer to the Gyeongchun Line and disembark at Gulbongsan Station. From there, hop on a shuttle bus that will take you directly to Jade Garden.
For those who prefer to drive, ample parking is available nearby, with clear signs guiding visitors to the entrance. Alternatively, bicycle rentals are offered at the nearby station, making it an eco-friendly adventure to arrive at this verdant retreat.
