This year I had the amazing opportunity to visit K-medi Center in Seoul. This place is everything you need after a hard working week at work, or a stressful time. Located in the north-east part of Seoul this center gives you an amazing opportunity to try traditional Korean "spa" or traditional Korean medicine.
After I arrived there it was like entering in another world. The atmosphere, the people and the calmness of the place was just the right thing I needed. I took the ticket and then I waited for my turn, while visiting their museum. If you are a fan of history, this is the place for you. The museum presents all the traditional Korean medicine practices since the beginning until now. You have miniatures, a traditional "doctor's home" and lots of other amazing stuff. You can even try to touch or smell the medicinal herbs or to take a fun quiz at the end of the tour. Being obsessed with miniatures, seeing their replicas was amazing.
However the best part started after. I first went and had an amazing foot bath, scented with wild raspberries bath salt and a cute thermometer. The bath was amazing, outside looking at the bright sky, having an amazing time while relaxing with nice music. I think I will try to recreate this in my home, I always need something so relaxing after a hard day.
Then, I went upstairs, at the 3rd floor to have my massage. An unique experience indeed. I had to lay down on a bed, while a hot mask pack covers my eyes, and the bed was giving me a massage. Yes you heard right, the BED! That was an automated bed, that give you a traditional Korean massage. It felt so strange at the beginning, I thought someone was playing drums on my back. However I really enjoyed it. I think this was what I actually needed for my back bones. Even though it hurt a lot, the sensation is so different that you have to try it by yourself, before trying to even understand it. And lastly I had a hand and foot manage. I felt like Iron Man a little bit, because both devices were very high tech, but it was very fun. Not going to lie, it hurt so much, that I thought a Boa Constrictor was going to leave me without my limbs, but after it finished I could feel all the tiredness and pain from before going away.
Now you have the unique opportunity to make your own bath salt, herb pouch or wood pressing painting. These additions are amazing and bring more fun to the actual experience. And of course, you can try a cute Joseon Dynasty nurse hanbok so you can feel exactly like a cute doctor.
Will I go again? Call me crazy, but I will, and not one time, but if I can, every once in a while to relax from my stressful life, I would. I can't explain you enough or with a lot of details the real feeling, but if you have the opportunity to come to Seoul, or Korea, or if you want to try it, just go! Is an amazing and unique experience!
