HYBE, one of the world’s leading K-pop agencies, has officially entered the Indian market by setting up a subsidiary, HYBE India, in Mumbai this month. This marks HYBE’s fifth overseas branch after HYBE Japan, HYBE America, HYBE Latin America, and HYBE China.
The new entity, HYBE India Entertainment Private Limited, has completed its registration in Mumbai, India’s cultural and entertainment capital, known for its thriving Bollywood industry, rich performing arts, and contemporary creative scene. The city’s global reputation makes it a strategic hub for South Asia’s rapidly expanding entertainment sector.
HYBE India has adopted the mission statement:“ Where voices of India become global stories.”
The company aims to host nationwide auditions, establish a localized artist training system, and foster new talent tailored for the Indian market. In addition, it will support promotional and concert activities for HYBE’s existing artists in the country.
With a population of 1.46 billion, India now stands as the world’s most populous nation and is emerging as a powerhouse in the global music industry. According to the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI), India has over 185 million music streaming users, second only to the United States.
K-pop’s popularity in India has also skyrocketed. Data from the Korea Foundation for International Cultural Exchange shows that K-pop streaming in India grew by 362% between 2018 and 2023, fueled by widespread smartphone usage, improved internet access, and the growth of global streaming platforms.
The launch of HYBE India is part of Chairman Bang Si Hyuk’s ambitious “Multi-home, Multi-genre” strategy, which focuses on establishing localized production systems across regions and genres to create globally recognized artists rooted in local culture.
Backed by HYBE’s integrated infrastructure, spanning artist training, music production, management, marketing, and live events HYBE India is set to connect Indian creativity with the global stage, spotlighting uniquely Indian voices in the worldwide entertainment arena.
