Registration procedure

Required documents

  • 1 copy of the registration application form

  • 1 copy of the bylaw (articles of incorporation) (seal between pages)

  • 1 copy of the meeting minutes of the general assembly for the relevant year (seal between pages, list of attendees at the general assembly, photos of general meeting) * Among documents to be submitted, the articles of incorporation and minutes of the general meeting must be submitted after sealing between pages (stamp on both pages next to each other at the same time) (if it is difficult to submit the original copy, certified true copy stamp is required)

  • 1 copy of the business plans and budget for revenue and expenditure for the relevant year - 1 copy of the business plans and budget for revenue and expenditure for the previous year - 1 copy of the settlement of accounts for the previous year

  • 1 copy of the membership list (Members refer to those with rights to vote according to bylaws or articles of incorporation. The membership list shall contain the date of birth, address, contact details, date of joining, and phone number, and shall record members up to 100 persons and "and ○○ (number) others" for remaining members) • 1 copy of data proving pro bono activity performance for the past 1 year or more (pro bono activity performance under the name of the organization, such as internet resources, photos attached with comments, media reported data and leaflets, etc.) • Organization profile: organizational chart • 1 copy of each of the documents showing the relationship of rights and duties regarding the use of office (including branch office) * The purpose of the property should be "office" on a certified copy of the building registry and building register and available to members at all times

How to establish a Non-profit Non-governmental organization in Korea

Check eligibility of non-profit non-governmental organization registration (all below requirements must be fulfilled)

  • The direct beneficiaries of the business are unspecified individuals.

  • The organization shall not allow its members to distribute profit among each other.

  • In effect, the organization shall not be established and operated for advocating and supporting a specific political party or propagating doctrines of specific religion as its main objectives.

  • The numbers of constituents (members) are 100 and above at all times. * 100 members and above indicate those members with the right to vote at the general meetings.

  • The organization shall prove its pro bono activity performance for the last 1 year. * Documents proving constant pro bono activity performance shall be submitted every year.

  • For the non-corporate organization, there shall be a representative or manager.

Information on registration agency and department

  • The scope of business covers 2 or more cities and provinces and the organization establishes and operates its offices in 2 or more cities and provinces → register at central government department in charge of the main pro bono project of the organization\

  • For organizations whose offices are located in Seoul, register at the department in charge of the main pro bono project of the department of Seoul City Hall

How to submit documents

• Visit the public service center on the 1st floor of the main building of Seoul City Hall • Or mail to the official in charge in the department relevant to the main business of the organization to register
